Traveling to LA.

Kentucky has everything a woman needs: Bourbon. However, sometimes a woman wants to venture out and see a little more of what this world offers.

Only ever really going north or south of the Kentucky borderline, California was a big leap in the other direction. I read many travel blogs about the best places to go, which sites are worth seeing, where the best places to eat are, etc.

My first anxiety: How am I going to do all this in only 5 days?

Living for the thrill of constantly feeding my anxieties, I planned full days just about everywhere we stayed in LA. Sarah (that’s me) doesn’t believe in ‘relaxing’ vacations. You may ask, ‘but there are beaches in California, are you not going to see any?’ Oh no — we are… but ‘relaxing’ on them is not an option.

Now I’m no travel blogger. I’m just a creative Kentucky-raised woman that traveled to a foreign place. These are just the places I went, things I did, the sights I saw, etc. I had an amazing time in LA, but I wouldn’t trade my Kentucky life for a big city living.

My Must-See’s:

Santa Monica Pier - Sunset

Santa Monica Pier (Sunset)

I’m a sucker for a really colorful and beautiful sunset. While exploring Santa Monica Pier, the sun started to set, and the view was breathtaking.

We ate at Mariasol, and it was a perfect experience. Drinking margaritas with friends and family on a beautiful fall night.

Disneyland - Pizza

Disneyland!

I’m a child-at-heart. I LOVE anything Disney-related and will go to their parks any chance I can get. However, much like Disney World, 1 day at Disneyland isn’t enough.

Only Complaint: Fastpass isn’t like Disney World. You can only do 1 at a time, making it difficult to plan the day there vs. the 3 you get at Disney World.

The Last Bookstore - Circle of Books

The Last Bookstore

I’m a collector of TBR books. I have shelves and shelves of books that I’ve started and stopped since I was a kid. This does not stop me from loving books and living and breathing stories.

The Last Bookstore was book-nerd heaven. With its labyrinth of shelves and perfectly staged book-inspired photo ops — it surpassed the things I read about it before my trip. I will always go back there.

Honorable Mentions:

In N' Out Burger Joint

In N’ Out Burgers

I love a good burger joint. Of course, these burgers are infamous and rare to find in my ol’ Kentucky parts. So finally, being able to try these bad boys was worth the trip.

Los Angeles Street Art

Various LA Street Art

Walking around a city that had various awesome street art was a dream. I could have spent days just walking around trying to capture them all.

Taking a trip somewhere new can be anxiety-inducing, but coming from experience, it’s worth it most of the time. Finding your own way in this world, figuring out what helps your spirit rejuvenate. I have never regretted any of my trips, big or small.

I’ve always learned something new, shared experiences with others, lived many moments worth looking back on. That’s all you can ask for in a ‘vacation.’
